Uzima Reformed College

Kenya's Rift Valley

Kenya's Rift Valley

In 2009, while I was in the nation of Kenya teaching pastors and their wives the import truths associated with the Cultural Mandate of Scripture, I was approached by a leader of the African Evangelical Presbyterian Church (AEPC) with the idea of helping to start the first Reformed Theological Seminary in Kenya. I was immediately impressed with the idea. After returning to the states and praying about the opportunity and spending a good bit of time researching the potential of such a school, the school is now underway.

The school is now called Uzima Reformed College. “Uzima” is Swahili for Life, and so this name gives the school an East African outlook.

Since most of the men of the AEPC, and other churches of Kenya, have only diplomas in theology, Uzima Reformed College will seek to offer BA degrees in theology at first, followed later by M.Div degrees, and then doctorates. The first class was held September 6-10, 2010, in Nairobi on the grounds of Covenant Presbyterian Church. The one-week intensive calls was in hermeneutics (the science of Bible interpretation), which I taught.

The 21 men who made up the first class of Uzima Reformed College sacrificed greatly to take part in the class and to help launch the new school. My personal note of thanks to all.

The classes of 2011 have continued and include courses in Principles of Sanctification, Greek New Testament, Ministry to Muslims, and the Doctrine of God. Another exciting fact is that The New Presbyterian Church of Pompano Beach, Florida is assisting with the start of the theological library of the school.

A great deal of cooperation, time, energy, financial resources, materials and prayer are needed for such a school to flourish. But with God’s help we will see the vision come to pass. If you are one who feels led to take part in this exciting ministry, please contact us at the email address provided on this website.

And please be in prayer for the Uzima Reformed College!
